No one, and I mean NO ONE, wanted to hate the entire hoopla surrounding this book and what was to come about, and end, starting with this book... The premise was simple... Starting with this issue, the 600th overall issue of Wonder Woman in all it's various incarnations, would be re-numbered #600, and everything that we knew and loved about the Amazing Amazon was to change forever. But that's for future issues, so I won't go much into that. What you get in this volume: Amazing art and retrospective stories from a host of Wonder Woman writers and artists, who are, in their own way, saying goodbye to the Amazon Princess we think we knew, and hello to the future of the comic. As much as I was DEAD set against the new costume, it does look beautiful... The editors and executives pointed out that there was a LOT of history and baggage that comes with Wonder Woman, that has often made the creation of the comic... difficult... And it was pointed out that someone like Wonder Woman, a heroine of her caliber, should NOT be languishing in a lower place of the sales rankings... So as with many comics over the years, they made the decision to shake things up. And they did so in the only way they could... By weaving all that had come before, with all that was to come... Mingling the two, if you will... And done so, of course, by that dastardly and oft used comic tactic of an alteration or change to the timeline...
But all you need to know for this volume is that the art is beautiful, and the stories are as well... And the set up into what comes next is just perfection... I LOVE Wonder Woman as I knew her... And I always LOVED the star spangled panties and the bustier, and NOT just because I'm a guy who loves a beautiful woman. It just FIT the character. It was who she was! It was tied up in her identity! But there in was most of the problems. And the bottom line is this... If you tell a story good enough, no matter how much it changes what you love... Then like any good story, it draws you in. And this edition is the setup for the coming story line, and a beautiful look back all at the same time...
Collect them now while they're still cheap folk... (I am, right here on Amazon as money allows.) This story is being done well, and it's working. And these babies will be worth something one day. You mark my words. The Wonder Woman we know and love isn't gone. Not at all. She's just evolving, like all great women do when faced with challenges. And they are right... Wonder Woman deserves to be a top selling book again... And I think these folks are gonna get her there.
Thanks for your time everyone. And if you were a WW fan, but were calling this mess heresy, please don't... It's a good story. Give it a chance, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Wonder Woman #600 Various Authors J Michael Straczynski Geoff Johns Gail Simone Scott George Pérez Phil Jimenez Joe Madureira Books Reviews
What caught my eye at first was the many various artworks of Wonder Woman!! Not many comic books have this many and most are beautiful in here..There is a introduction from Lynda Carter. As for the stories most were just o.k. Firepower was pretty much the best and then it goes straight to the 1st story(Culture Shock) I believe that introduces U to the new WW costume. At first I was a little disappointed that they messed with it..Then I read the story which is a bit darker than the WW I know but the thing is the costume does work for this new time stream. When I read Behind the scenes it also made a true observation truly what woman has not wondered how did she fight in her old costume? I have wondered but hey I didn't dwell on it too much..I am pretty excited to read more about this new timestream! I only give this a four because of some mediocre stories but Firepower and Culture Shock were excellent!!
Art, layout and most of all the story is fantastic. The costume change is a great addition. This is a great place to start reading Wonder Woman as it sets up a reworked back story and introduction to the character at the end of this issue and Wonder Woman #2.
I have never been too much of a fan of Wonder Woman. In the few books that I read with her in it, she didn't seem like too bad of a character or anything but nothing ever made me want to pick up her book. I was also discouraged by the fact that her origin gets revamped every few years. I really only got this book because DC's media coverage at the idea of Wonder Woman's new costume interested me.
Each of the short stories put in these books are all very entertaining and light fun. The art is very nice for all of them. (George Perez being the first and best one) that show the impact Wonder Woman has on the DC Universe without sounding cliche and like they are trying too hard.
But what I was mostly surprised about was how much I liked the very brief sample of Wonder Woman fighting in her new costume was like. While I will say that I don't actually like the design of the outfit (And the fact that she lamely stamps a W onto her enemies heads) I will say that the art and writing is very nicely done and I might actually pick up the trade of this story. (Although I would still pick it up, if they dropped her outfit which I think they will)
